Then you did not install XAMPP before and is why we are having all the above issues with not being able to start Apache - I assumed you had downloaded and installed XAMPP and was why you came here in the first place.

It must be there somewhere
Thanks, we'll figure this out!

\xampp\apache\logs\error.log file

Is this in My Computer harddrive then my programs folder? I don't seem to see an xampp folder?

Oops I found it and it is empty.
asyou found the log files in the xampp folder.

Do a search and make sure you did not install XAMPP before as you can't install another at the same tine.

When you are absolutely positive that there is no xampp folder on your PC then proceed to item 1 under new method above.
You can download XAMPP from here:

I think its because the guy on the forum I heard about the program said not to click all the checkboxes.. Maybe I only installed SQL??

It says some kind of error port 80 even though I already changed skype. Then it said that it was already installed. Now I have Filezilla as an option but apache still won't go.

Now I feel bad for my brother who works in programming :? :P

Download this little app to find out what is using port 80 and or port 443 and let me know what you find - it does not need installing just extract to a folder and run the exe file.

Weird it says skype even though I went into tools/advanced/connections and declicked port 80 etc.. I opened skype again and it is still declicked. But the tool you linked to says skype is using them anyways.. Do I have to reboot?

You have to also select another port in Skype by adding it to the box above where you unchecked the other ports.

Quit Skype and restart it after you made the above changes.

You could also reboot as it might clear out any other issues.

I'm accessing skype by my toolbar is that the problem? I close it with 100 put in the port. Open again its still 100. Close.

Check the ports tool and it still says 80 and 443 are used by skype???

Use Task Manager and find Skype.exe and click on the button End Process to kill it.

Or make sure that you quit Skype so it is not running - it must not be running before starting Apache.

Check your ports are now free.

If no sign of Skype then try and start Apache.

If Apache starts then you can then start Skype again and it will use other ports.

Sharley,

Thanks. Manually cancelling the process in Task Manager cleared out the ports.
