1.7.4 xampp-control error message...

Hello,

I installed last xampp (1.7.4), I don't set apache or mysqld as services, I use xampp-control panel to start/stop them.

But launching xampp-control panel I get an error message dialog:

XAMPP Component Status Check failure (3).
Current directory: c:\xampp
Run this program only from your XAMPP root directory

I'll accept this and xampp-control panel start ok, but with this message in log window:

XAMPP Control Panel Version 2.5 (9. May, 2007)
Windows 6.1 Build 7600 Platform 2
Current directory: c:\xampp
Install(er) Directory: C:\xampp
Error Status Check Failure (3).
This program must run form your XAMPP root directory

I don't know what I did wrong...

any suggestions?

You did nothing wrong but some people are having this issue when using the installer exe version.

Some, if not all, that properly uninstalled the installer version and then downloaded the zipped or 7z archive version and then extracted the xampp folder to the root of a drive or partition and then ran the setup_xampp.bat file, had success with eliminating this Control Panel error message.

I have the same problem, however, everything is working fine.

Please help. The zip file downloads with .obi extention and 7zip cannot open this. Am I doing something wrong?

The zip version should be named xampp-win32-1.7.4-VC6.zip and 7zip will open it so you can extract the xampp folder.

You may be having issues because the link on the Home Page redirects to Sourceforge and your download manager may be adding the obi extension.

Try renaming the download file to the name above and then try to open it again
