XAMPP Installation Has Error For Me, Index.php Doesn't Work

I downloaded XAMPP exactly the way it is supposed to be done, and "index.php" in htdocs won't open. I downloaded a file opening software to open it, and it revealed: "Something is wrong with the XAMPP installation". Can anybody please help?

Which version of XAMPP and which installation method did you use ie. zip or installer?

Did you open the XAMPP Control Panel and Start Apache and MySQL first so that they both appear Running in green?

Read the \xampp\apache\logs\error.log file when ever you have server related issues.
