Probably a virtual host problem

Postby greenlemon » 16. February 2011 17:51

I have several problems to get my site on line.
I have a real domain at a webhotel and try to run the same at home with a dynamic DNS.
It has worked but after reinstall Apache will not work.
There is two files to config I think, httpdb.conf and httpd.vhosts.conf.
Browser cache on one computer still have some pages of my dyndns site
so it had work before.

as son as I include httpd.vhosts.conf I get problems as it block localhost.

I now have 5 different httpd.vhosts.conf to change between.

I dont know what is wrong so I cant specify the problem.

It has nothing to do with the DSL modem, firewall or dyndns.

We can't say what's wrong either until you give more details like the settings in your httpd-vhosts.conf which in XAMPP only requires a single instance - more than one instance can give you errors as only one is referenced from the httpd.conf file.

Your best reverting your httpd.conf file back to the default installation settings so we can eliminate that aspect of your issue.

Paste here your httpd-vhosts.conf file between forum Code tags so we can see if it has issues.

Read the \xampp\apache\logs\error.log file for clues if Apache can't start.

Open a command prompt in the apache\bin folder (cd C:\xampp\apache\bin) and issue this command to check the syntax of your httpd-vhosts.conf file, note that the -S is a capital S
apache -S
or
httpd -S
depending on your xampp version.

Also make sure you are using a text editor like notepad to edit your XAMPP configuration and ini files.
