Xampp not working on my mac?

I install xampp with the right way and can be open the xampp control.

also can start the apache and mysql and ftp.

but when I visit localhost with shows up page not found(My mac is offline. If online it can be visit).


How can I make this working?

Which browser do you use and which version of Mac OS X do you have?

I also encouter this problem when I use Firefox (3.6 probably) on a Mac with Mac OS X Snow Leopard when I'm off-line. I simply have to turn on 'Work Offline' from the file menu (or was it turn off instead?) and I can continue again. Because of this I usually pick Safari when I'm on that Mac.

Here is also some problem that you might be knowing.
1. XAMPP for Mac is different from XAMPP for Windows
2. Max OS X comes with a Version of Apache Installed
3. Mac OS X has additional permissions that are different from Linux
Run this command if you have all ready installed apache
/apachectl -t -D DUMP_VHOSTS

YOu can do following things to avoid such troubles
* Put your vhost content in the Users folder.
* If you try things from the terminal, make sure you do ./apachectl so you execute the correct binary file.
* Most of your config files are in the /Applications/xampp/etc/ folder.
