The file "httpd-xampp.conf" is missing

Postby mike_ledis » 06. January 2011 00:31

Hello.I need to access phpmyadmin to a remote xampp server. It keeps showing following message.

Access forbidden!

New XAMPP security concept:

Access to the requested object is only available from the local network.

This setting can be configured in the file "httpd-xampp.conf".

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.
Error 403
01/06/11 00:23:26
Apache/2.2.14 (Win32) DAV/2 mod_ssl/2.2.14 OpenSSL/0.9.8l mod_autoindex_color PHP/5.3.1 mod_apreq2-20090110/2.7.1 mod_perl/2.0erl/v5.10.

I have the ftp passwd but when i log in to the directory that xampp is set up i cant find the "httpd-xampp.conf".

What is hapenning?
Is there any other way to access phpmyamin?

The file is located in your \xampp\apache\conf\extra\ Folder

Not by default.

Is your XAMPP connected to the internet?

Sure. That depends on the destination path your FTP user is directed to. If you just have access to the htdocs folder, you can't reach the Apache config from there.

Isn't that your server? What kind of access to you have to the server exept FTP?

Thats not the correct xampp folder.

To be clear, there are two xampp folders.
The installation folder \xampp\ and one for the xampp backend files \xampp\htdocs\xampp\.
You just have access to the second one.

Contact your server admin which has setuped your server with your problem to access phpmyadmin from outside.

no. Your administration just have to change xampp to make external phpmyadmin access possible for you.
I don't think it's a good idea if you have full access to all the XAMPP configuration files. I don't think, that you have the knowledge to do changes there.

And i hope you know what you are doing there. XAMPP is not released as Live-System. It is just a Developement and Testserver and configured for fast working, not for security. In the Default configuration it has several security issues and can be hijacked in just a few seconds. I hope you know what you are doing there, really.
