Wordpress Testing

Postby bcampbell » 03. January 2011 20:56

I am a newbie using XAMPP for the first time.

I am using XAMPP to test Wordpress on a local computer. The computer is running Windows 7 Home Premium.

When I connect to wordpress through my localhost, everything connects and operates properly. However, when I try to connect from outside my local network, I am not getting any formatting in my wordpress site. Just a list of page links. Also the only way I can connect via the internet is to turn off my firewall.

Does anybody have any ideas why the wordpress formatting will not come through?

And with regards to my firewall issue, what program needs permission to allow access. Apache HTTP Server has permissions. Does anything else?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Wordpress does have something like a basepath i think.
Depended in this basepath all links and external ressources are build (for example urls to the css files).
We don't provide any support via personal channels like PM, email, Skype, TeamViewer!

It's like porn for programmers 8)

When installing WordPress, dont enter "localhost" as Servername (i think you have been asked for a Servername at installation time), neither enter 127.0.0.1, but enter the local LAN IP instead (192.168.1.10 or similar).
