MySQL stops running after 2-5 seconds

Postby Greeny106 » 13. December 2010 19:58

Hello, I hope someone out there can help because this is driving me insane.

I've used xampp for years, and have been using it on this specific PC for about a month with no problems, but now, out of nowhere, when I try to start MySQL via the xampp Control Panel, the green "Running..." message shows up but then disappears after a couple of seconds.

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling MySQL, even fully reinstalled xampp and tried an older version. Deleted C:\WINDOWS\my.ini in case that was a problem, but still no luck! The MySQL port is free according to the port checker.

Thanks in advance,
Greeny

Neither, Windows Vista eats up too much ram and Win 7 is a straight up copy of KDE 3.5 so I refuse to use it on principle. xD

Using Windows XP Professional Edition, I started getting errors where I couldn't load any webpage, so I restarted my PC to fix, checked the xampp panel and MySQL was running! Weird problem, will have to remember the IT Crowd catchphrase ("Have you tried turning it off and on again?") lol, I just didn't think it was my PC being the issue.

Should I infer things are OK now??

a very RELIABLE copy, that you can actually get support on and does not require a secret decoder ring to use,
