XAMPPErrorDomain error 1. when moving mysql dir

Postby M!? » 08. December 2010 22:08

Howdy. I want to move xamppfiles/var/mysql to another dir. I moved it and specified the new dir in xamppfiles/etc/my.cnf like so (under [mysqld]):
datadir=/Volumes/data/XAMPP/mysql/
When trying to start MySQL via XAMPP after the move and my.cnf edit i get:Image
Changing permissions as proposed http://community.apachefriends.org/f/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=38373 doesn't work.
Ideas?

As there doesn't seem to be much answers to this question I'll simply ask:
Has anybody succeeded with moving the var/mysql dir using the datadir= option (or in any other way for that matter)?

What works is setting permissions to Everyone: Read & Write for the mysql folder. What other permissions could I try if I won't want "everyone"? I've tried "sudo chown -R root" with no luck.

Set permission on the XAMPP folder on everyone, admin, and system to read & write. And also make sure down the bottom you can see a sun symbol with a dropdown arrow, click on that and apply to all enclosed files. That will work, good luck!!!
