forgot phpmyadmin password

Postby markleedsfc » 04. December 2010 19:58

Hi

I'm a complete newbie and was trying to learn php and mysql using xampp but today when I tried entering phpmyadmin I can't log in. I typed what I thought was my password but it must be wrong because its saying access denied. Is there anyway of re-setting the password or has anyone any ideas what I can do? This has been doing my head in all day and I can't seem to find anything on any forums. Please help!

Bare in mind I am a complete noob. Thanks

you can try "resetroot.bat" in c:\xampp\mysql" folder

perhaps its better to have a look on forum search "resetroot", there are a lot of information.

Hey JonB,
maybe you want to link to this MySQL Guide in your FAQ too for further reading 8)

Altrea:

OK, its in there now -let us hope folks won't be too literal.

I tend to avoid links from manuals for XAMPP FAQ's as almost all the manuals 'assume' a default standalone install, and the 'paths and parts' are all wrong for XAMPP. As well, many of the utilities don't get installed with XAMPP - like mysqladmin.exe (a very nice tool in my opinion), but I never mention it here, as its not part of our install. All my 'real servers' have defaulted standalone installs, so I'm not picky about how to do things.

Thanks for the encouragement.
