mysql logs cant read them

how do I read the logs in xampp/Mysql/data/ib_logfile1

is this forum alive? you see lots of posts asking for help and not one expert has answered anything.

As it happens that is NOT a XAMPP question really - its a MySQL question. Those files are an integral part of the InnoDB engine.

You are so sweet! Thankies.
It gets very flustrating at times, mostly when you have deleted your old xampp1.4.2 and download xampp1.7.3.exe and click the install button and winxp accepted everything and it all works except mysql, and I can't find the reason. Please accept my sincere appologies.

Even tomcat works. that was a supprise.
but alass mysql, is having a problem.

I even disabled winxp firewall, but didn't think that would help as the 1.4.2 version worked find with the firewall.
