XAMPP can not access from Windows 7

Postby mflum » 14. September 2010 21:24

I have a laptop running windows 7 and a desktop running windows XP SP3. I have XAMPP installed and running on the Desktop XP Machine. I am running Kaspersky on both machines. But when I type 192.168.1.105 (XP local address) in the address bar of the Laptop it times out.

Additional information:
Both machines are behind a CISO Router and can file share.
I can ping each machine from the other I.e. Ping 192.168.1.105 and it responds.

Thanks in advance..

Did you get a message about creating a firewall exception for Apache whe installing/setting uo?

First check Windows Firewall

if not - disable Kaspersky in both machines temporarily and see if things start moving.

Good Luck

THanks for reply,

Just tried both (disconnect from internet) turned both (Kaspersky) firewalls off and type http://192.168.1.105/index.html in firefox address bar of the windows 7 laptop and nothing. No windows firewall are ever operational.

Thank you for assist. The problem was in the windows networking system.

In order to fix the problem, I found the solution in the XP desktop running XAMPP.

In the windows XP system:
By going to the Network Connections page.
Selecting the 'Local Area Connection" with the right button and activating the "Properties" selection.
You get the "local Connections Properties Page"
Select the Advanced TaB.
Select the "Allow other network users..." check box.
Select the "Allow other network users to control or disable..." check box.
Now press the "Setting" Button.
Scroll to the bottom and check the "Web Server (http)" box.
Press the OK button.
Uncheck only the top "Allow other network users..." check box.

Problem Fixed

Thanks
