well -- you DID try the command, right?

And yes - it (format) removes all the data from the drive target. Its how you wipe a drive, USB stick or 'floppy disk' (remember them?)

I'm saying you could have - and since you are posting I guess you didn't

On Topic - the right thing to do is uninstall and try again

Good Luck

I have done, I'm just going to leave it for a few days, then reinstall, seeing as I've got to go to work.

And it will re-format the C: drive, won't that mess it up?

Uh.. Is the funny face because I did something stupid...?

No, the guy was being silly. Let's say you said you had a head cold and wanted some relief. His response was the equivalent of "get a loaded .357, put it up to your head and pull the trigger." Would that solve your problem? Well, yes, you'd never feel anything again. But would it be a realistic solution? Only if you thought having a head cold was so bad that suicide was an appropriate answer. So, would formatting (wiping and erasing) your hard drive "uninstall" XAMPP? Well, yes, but it will "uninstall" everything else including Windows.

But, to try to answer your question, when you go to the XAMPP control panel, do the first two boxes "SVC Apache" and "SVC MySql" have check marks in them (to run them as services) and are they both indicated as "running"?
