Object Not Found

Postby RossGarner » 25. May 2010 10:15

I keep getting a Object not found error whenever I try to access a newly created Joomla project. I'm very new to this whole process having just bought the Joomla Bible, and completed installing XAMPP and Joomla. I'm really not sure what to do?

Maybe post the whole error-message here, so that other users can appreciate if this is a xampp or joomla error

Still a poor description:

a) where did you install Xampp?
b) where did you install Joomla?
c) what do you enter in the browsers URL line?

As you can probably tell its my first time using Xampp or Joomla, I'm not sure exactly what parts are relevant.

C:\xampp
C:\xampp\htdocs\Joomla (at least where I unzipped the files and then ran the installer in browser
http://localhost/union (union is both the name I used for the subfolder in htdocs, and the name I choose for the database)

Argh?!?!? Which subfolder "union"? If you installed Joomla to c:\xampp\htdocs\Joomla, why the hell you enter http://localhost/union? Why not http://localhost/Joomla?

Sorry made a mistake, my Joomla directory was c:\xampp\htdocs\union, my original install directory was at htdocs\Joomla, but I uninstalled / reinstalled hoping it would change something.

When installing Joomla, you have been asked for a servername. What did you enter?

localhost

My problem is a repeating one, after I install Joomla, I delete the install directory, then try to access my files I get the object not found error.

You should ask that in a Joomla Forum.
