I require help badly

Well, im trying to setup a site using PHP and MYSQL. So as you would predict, i need apache and mysql, so i install them, attempt to run them, they do NOT RUN. I uninstall, i click run, they run for about 4 seconds and then shut down. And local host is not accessible. Any help?

Did you install Xampp?
