MySql not working

MySql not working

Postby jennym » 04. May 2010 11:17

Hi

I loaded xampp yesterday - really struggling because the first download (from SF website default mirror) said it had corrupt files on install. So I deleted the first download and downloaded another version from another mirror.

The problem I am having is that MySql on the control panel says: 'ERROR MySql not started [-1 ]

I can access http://localhost/xampp/ which says: Welcome to XAMPP for Windows Version 1.5.4a , Congratulations: You successfully installed XAMPP on this system!

Clicking on xampp/mysql/mysql_installservice comes up with: Save windows my.ini as my.ini.old (not sure about doing this?)

Please, can anyone advise? :)

Further infor - looking in windows file, there is a my.ini.old already there. There is also a my.ini file, which says:

Code: Select all
# Example MySQL config file for small systems.

# This is for a system with little memory (<= 64M) where MySQL is only used
# from time to time and it's important that the mysqld daemon

# mysql-data-dir/my.cnf to set server-specific options (in this

Altrea - you are a star! Thank you, all now works as it should.

Another lesson I've learnt (it should be obvious really  ) - make sure the latest version is downloaded!
