What? Why that? Just install xampp to C:\, change your document-root to the directory of your webpage files. Thats it.

Thats the correct behaviour!? What do you expect how you can access your webpages?

ron102 wrote:what can be the problem please

I have no idea! I don't understand what you are saying.

Okay, lets recapitulate:

You have some webpages on C:\
You have some other webpages on E:\
You have a xampp on E:\
You don't have a webserver on C\

You can reach your webpages with http://localhost
You can't reach your webpages with your url

Is that correct?

So, thats a correct registered domain or is it just a test-domain routet in your HOSTS file?
Is the domain correct binded to your IP?
Have you forwarded port 80 in your firewall/router?

1) its a registerd domain
Is the domain correct binded to your IP? im not sure how do i tell?
Have you forwarded port 80 in your firewall/router? i have a router to, ido i have to do that as well because the IP changed?
Do i have to forward that too in the firewall?
Sorry to be a pain i have run it for four years but never had troubles like this.

You say you have run it for four years, apparently not on XAMPP, so my question really is: What webserver have you been using these 4 years?

An IP is bound to a Domain by a nameserver (and its DNS entries). What the poster was asking is if your domain resolves to your router's IP?

to find out open a Command Window, and type in 'ping yourfulldomainname' for your server. (including any host name, such as 'www').

I tried 'http://www.ronuk.org/' but I guess that is not really the URL as it does not resolve.

Good Luck

Did you recently add a router or wifi access point between you and the internet?

The IP addresses look like you have an externally viewable, routable address @ 81.200.64.50, and then if your machine is @ 192.168.0.100, that is a Class C private address (192.168.xxx.xxx) that is *not* routable... so I presume there is a router somewhere between your machine and the Internet. Unless you have some sort of port forwarding set up, people on the outside will not be able to 'see' your web page.

I did add a router and modem at xmas but its been alright until two weeks ago when i had to reinstall it a then the IP no. changed.IVE got a wired PC and wireless (D-LINK 615) VER-4.1(E)for the laptop(which i don't use rarely).
Does that help at all??
Do you think ive got to route it again?? Im with virginmedia cable and the chap said i wouldn't have to do it again (so much for him)
or do i have to port forward it?

Had to re-install *what*? XAMPP, the router, etc.? Did your internal (LAN) ip address change?

Port-forwarding is one of those things I've never got around to doing, so someone else may have to help you on that one. But it sure sounds like thats the issue - you can reach the ip address, but unless port 80 is being forwarded from the external interface of your router to port 80 on the NIC of your computer... I don't think the web page will be viewable on the WWW.
