Apache fails to start / Localhost

Problems with the Windows version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

Apache fails to start / Localhost

Postby Rzr » 11. March 2010 21:49

OS: Windows
XXAMP version: XAMPP Windows 1.7.3 - EXE
Special settings: nothing, not even a preconfigured password
Firewall: tried turning it off and on allowing the sql + the apache connection

Localhost is asking for a password when browsing with firefox to both of the following urls:
http://127.0.0.1/
http://localhost/

With the control panel opened, I've clicked on the apache server and the following situation occurs:
The console freezes for a few seconds and prints:
Busy

Started

MySQL is booting successfully but with the apache on the other hand goes something wrong. MySQL shows on the control panel with a label "running", apache does not.

Is there anyone on this big world who could identify this problem and give the corresponding solution?

Thanks for your time!

Another Webserver running?

What is Apache error.log reporting?

TCP 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:0 Bezig met luisteren 1592

There is something listening on your port 80.
Look into your task manager, processes tab for PID 1592

Uninstall IIS if you don't need it, restart your Computer and port 80 should be free again

Its a windows component.

Here is a deinstallation-instruction

can be found in many other languages, too :)

/EDIT: Oops, that belongs to Windows Server Systems. But should be the same on other systems

Today I started xampp control panel and encountered the same problem, Apache started for a brief time then shutdown. SQL service started ok. When I logged in here I saw your post and read thru all the posts. What I found was the port 443 being used by Skype! Yesterday I changed Skype to open with windows and this caused the problem, as soon as I changed Skype and restarted windows the problem went away and Apache is running fine now. Did you change anything on your system that may have caused this problem? I hope this helps you! Learning all these little things makes your brain bigger, lol.

How weird, for uninstalling he's asking for a cd too. Just a typical microsoft windows error ^^!
I've inserted my cd after that weird thingy and finished successfully the uninstall.
Now the checkbox is off and i'll reboot my pc to see if it was successfull!!
