How to fix the security and get mysql activated?

Hi,
i am total beginner,I want to do a simple website with 4 Menus, About,News,contact us and donate using Joomla. I have installed the XAMPP Lite 1.7.3.
I read that it very important to fix the security. So i did it, but after fixing the security and i check the status and saw that mysql is deactivated.Before fixing the security mysql was activited.
This is what i see:


Status
MySQL database DEACTIVATED
PHP ACTIVATED
Perl with mod_perl DEACTIVATED
Apache::ASP DEACTIVATED
HTTPS (SSL) ACTIVATED
Common Gateway Interface (CGI) ACTIVATED
Server Side Includes (SSI) ACTIVATED
IPv4 ACTIVATED
IPv6 DEACTIVATED

Could anyone help me to get mysql activated.
