I do not know what to do to retrieve XAMPP.
IMHO there is no upgrade from XP to 7. So what have you done exactly?
your old XAMPP still exists?
- or you have a backup of your old XAMPp directory?
Yes, my old XAMPP is still in a folder in my PC' s C drive.

so I tried to run Apache on port 8080 by editing the file httpd.confThe Windows kernal is using port 80
