Problems with the Linux version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

I have a Dell server with Novel SUSE enterprise server version 10 loaded.
I have started apache2 and seems to run ok but do not seem to have any other programs such as MySQL PHP etc.
Can I run XAMPP on my machine to install and configure all the rest of the apps on the machine so I can get my webserver working.
I know the security issue and will adress that when I have the programs all working.
Can anybody give me some help and advice I know this sort of question must be asked all the time but I am taking my first venture
away from windows and it is interesting but difficult so I thought the XAMPP package would kick start me and make things a little easier.
Any help would be appriciated.
