SOS Database

Postby sergiorac » 17. December 2009 12:16

Hi.

I install xampp but i dont know how to work with it :?

I have almost 6.000 documents in my computer and i want to do a search engine and a database with those docs, so everyone in my office network can use it.

Is there any tutorial to do this? Is it possible?

Thanks!

Hi,

What do you want to search for? Just the file names or also the content? If content, what type of documents do you have?

What you want is something like a Document Management Software. There is a free one in PHP: http://www.opendocman.com/
But i'm pretty sure you will not be able to search the content of the files, unless you have plain text.

Right, OpenDocMan performs it's searches based on either:

Search By Author
Search By Filename
Search By Category
Search By Tag
Search By Description
Search By Custom-Field

It does not have the ability to search through the actual content of your document at this time.
