XAMPP Network

I have set up a home wireless network based on my iMac that seems to be working and sharing perfectly even though one network machine is Windows based however I cannot get the windows machine to connect with XAMPP. The windows machine asks for user and pass to connect to XAMPP and this I supply (correctly) but still will not access XAMPP files. Every thing I have read leads me to httpd.conf and the belief that I need to put in the IP# of the Windows machine.

In the following section of httpd.conf is the following:

# Controls who can get stuff from this server.
#
Order allow,deny
Allow from all

</Directory>

My question. If the <Directory> section "allows from all" where do I put in the Windows IP number? and why, if it already "allows from all", will the Windows machine not connect?

I have been fighting with this for days and days and cannot get a connect. I really need the iMac to be my local server so that I may test scripts on the Windows machine.

I don't think there's something wrong in httpd.conf. A possible cause can be the firewall-settings of your router.

Which XAMPP version do you use? (You can check the version at http://localhost/ on your iMac)
Did you run the xampp-security program? (/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/xampp security). On some XAMPP-versions there were some problems after running that program.
If you type in http://localhost/ on your iMac, are you also asked for a XAMPP-password?

Yes I did run the security program. Initially (when I turn on computer at days beginning) turning on XAMPP I have to insert a pwd. There after I go to 127.0.0.1 and XAMPP index page comes up... no pwd. Version Mac OS X 0.7.4 running on Leopard. I am using Airport express for networking there is no router as such.

I've used XAMPP for Mac v0.7.4 for some time, but I had never tried to connect to that XAMPP-installation from a windows-pc. As far as I know there were no problems after running the security-program of that version (there were some big problems with XAMPP for Mac v1.7.2 (not v1.7.2a)).
However, the security-program did cause asking you for a password when you try to access the XAMPP-pages. You are able to see the XAMPP-pages on your Mac after typing the password, so I don't know why that doesn't work on your windows-pc. I don't think the Airport Extreme causes the problem or else you should not have been be able to type a XAMPP password (I believe you would see a message 'can not connect to the server' instead).

Are you able to access other pages then the XAMPP-pages? If you don't have any other pages in the htdocs-folder, create a php- or html-file and save it in the htdocs-folder. Then try to access that from the windows-pc.

From Windows. I enter network location of Mac computer 10.0.1.3 and it resolves to 10.0.1.3/xampp/index.html. Authorization required. I fill in the correct user name and password but access still denied. A pop up indicates:

A user name and password and being requested by http://10.0.1.3.
The site says "xampp user" OK Authentication required

All other file sharing works perfectly. But nothing "inside" the xampp folder is accessible.
