phpadmin error

Postby atsig411 » 30. November 2009 21:50

All,
I have seen a LOT of answers to this but none have worked out for me. I have OSX Snow Leopard. XAMPP 1.7.2a and I get the following error when I go to PHPmyadmin:

Error

SQL query: Edit

SHOW PLUGINS

MySQL said: Documentation
#1 - Can't create/write to file '/var/folders/J-/J-62rBt3GCulQaWAGd1no++++TI/-Tmp-/#sql7af0_7_0.MYI' (Errcode: 13)

My searches seems to tell me it is a permission issue. I have made sure that my /applications/xampp/xamppfiles and each file underneath is set to read/write. I can not figure this out. Anyone?

Were the original permissions on that folder and its contents assigned to 'nobody' ?

In the xampp/var/ there are only three folders mysql, perl, proftpd. So I do not see a -J folder. If you are asking what the original permissions on the install the system, only have read/write permissions. But that havs changed now that I set everythign under xampp to be read/write.

Try resetting your permissions to the originals.

I think this is the same issue I posted in this post: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=38596

Basically the my.cnf file in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/etc/ permissions must be set to 600.

Hope this helps.

if this does not help (i had a few other phpMyAdmin issues) try to start MYSQL as root.

edit /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/xampp
find "$XAMPP_ROOT/bin/mysql.server start > /dev/null &"
change to "$XAMPP_ROOT/bin/mysql.server start --user=root > /dev/null &"
