Problem running mysql on windows server 2008 64bit

First of all, my server running 64bit Windows server 2008 with SQL Server installed and running( i am not sure does it use port 3306).

I have got a project needs to run php and mysql, so i downloaded xampp 1.7.2 zip file, unzip it to c:\xampp , config the apache and mysql ro tun port 81 and port 3307.

NOw it comes to the problems.

1, Port cannot change

that's no problem to config the apache but the mysql. I changed the my.ini (also saved another file name my.cnf) file under c:\xampp\mysql\bin , however, the mysql still running port 3306 instead of 3307, why? I used the port-check function under the Xampp control-panel to check, if stopped mysql function from there then run port-check, the port 3306 is free, othrwise it is used by the system.

2. Phpmyadmin

I am not sure is it because it is conflicting with the sql server, but when i access the phpmyadmin page, it said my password is not correct, but i haven't set one yet? (i checked the default password is no password), when running in port 3306(configed config.inc in phpmyadmin), "it said #1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)" and "Connection for controluser as defined in your configuration failed."

I think the most import thing is to change the port number on MYSQL server, i have no idea why i cannot change that, please would you help me ? Many thanks!
