How do I activate components ??

Postby Dorovar » 25. November 2009 12:21

So I installed XAMPP on Windows Vista Home Premium.
Apache works, MySQL works, but under status [http://localhost/xampp/], all of my components are deactivated, except SMTP Serivce, and FTP Service.
Like so :
____________________________________________
Component Status Hint
MySQL database DEACTIVATED
PHP DEACTIVATED
Perl with mod_perl DEACTIVATED
Apache::ASP DEACTIVATED
HTTPS (SSL) DEACTIVATED
Common Gateway Interface (CGI) DEACTIVATED
Server Side Includes (SSI) DEACTIVATED
IPv4 DEACTIVATED
IPv6 DEACTIVATED
SMTP Service ACTIVATED
FTP Service ACTIVATED
______________________________________________

I'm sorry but I don't know enough to figure out how to activate them,
and I can't find any relevant topics with any answers . . .

How do I control these components ??

Sorry if this is stupid . . .
Please any help would be great . .

XAMPP for Windows 1.7.2
What Windows OS?

There appears to be something drastically wrong with your XAMPP installation.

Did you follow either of the 2 installation instructions and answer all the questions using the defaults in the installation setup script?
http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html#522

In XAMPP Control Panel which components are running?

What are you typing in the address bar of your browser to access localhost?

Hey Izzy -
Thanks much for your reply !
I agree with your assessment that there was something wrong with the install,
if there isn't some specific way of "activating" components.
I'm new to this, so I appreciate you taking the time !!
... and pointing me in the right direction !!

So after a few tries, I disabled my virus protection, then re-installed, and now all components are activated.
I'm guessing that was the deal.
Whatever the case . . problem solved !!!

Thank you much !!
