Zend framework on XAMPP for Windows

Postby ckosloff » 14. November 2009 22:08

I saw an article about installing Zend Framework on XAMPP for Windows.
I need it but for the life of me I cannot find it now in the apachefriends site.
Have tried Google Search and everything.
Can anybody post a link to this article?
It's by a guy called Marcel.
Thanks.

There is IMHO no such article on the ApacheFriends website.

But I guess you can find installation instructions on the Zend website.

BTW:
The Zend Framework is already included in the XAMPP package.

Just open a XAMPP shell, and you can use the command line tool "zf" to create your project.
(Maybe first "cd" to htdocs, or where you want create your project.)

Thanks for answer.
I have been using XAMPP for some time now, but obviously I am missing all the things that it can do.
I don't know how to open a XAMPP shell.
I have not seen a tutorial on using all these features, is there one?
If there isn't please let me know how to use the CLI in XAMPP.
I have read the Linux FAQ, I also have it installed on Linux, but have never heard of a XAMPP shell.

I don't know how to open a XAMPP shell.

http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html#5479

It's also accessible from the XAMPP Control Panel (button: "Shell").

This is only possible in latest version of XAMPP and I like the improvement.
I read the tut for Windows and see how I can get to the shell in older versions.
How is this is done in Linux, please?

Just open a command prompt in Windows. Of course, there is no Zend Framework in older XAMPP versions.

Well, if I login to a *nix, I am in a shell. Maybe that's different in your specific Linux installation.
BTW: AFAIK XAMPP for Linux does not include the Zend Framework.

I'll deal with Linux later, in another forum.
I did open a command prompt.
I saw that in XAMPP 1.7.8 there is no xampp_shell.bat either, so there is no way to get to the shell.
Or is it?
Thanks again for the great support.

Just one question: I think that this shell was introduced in 1.7.2 (latest).
I see no shell in 1.7.1, I have this one loaded in another machine, because some websites break with latest version of PHP.
So, am I correct in assuming that I can only access the shell in latest version?
Thanks.

That is clear, I was just wondering if there were XAMPP-specific commands that could not be run in this environment, because the XAMPP shell files do not exist.
But I guess that it is just a matter of testing.
Thanks again.
