Trouble starting Apache

Postby JonAston » 03. November 2009 05:00

Hi.

Newbie here.

I'm having trouble getting Apache started. It looks like it is starting, then says "busy.." and hangs.

I've read through the documentation, have disable port 80 in skype, have tried and am unable to run apache as a service, or using the "Apache_start" batch file, which reports no error, only "apache not started". I can't find the error log file(?).

Windows Vista Home Premium.

Thanks in advance for your help!

What version of XAMPP did you install?

Is the Svc box ticked in the XAMPP Control Panel (XCP)?
If so then remove the tick, answer OK when asked then try again to start Apache by clicking on the Start button.

How exactly have you tried to run Apache as a service?

you mean the apache_start.bat file in the xampp folder?

In the C:\xampp\apache\logs folder.

You are logged in as an Administrator and temporarily disabled UAC when you installed and tried to run your web server or start the NT Service?

What do you see when you type http://localhost in your browser?
What do you see when you type http://127.0.0.1 in your browser?

Did you answer all the questions in the installation script by using the defaults or did you change any of them?
