Xampp 1.7.2 help for windows XP

Postby adi_9833 » 27. October 2009 12:16

I recently installed xammp 1.7.2 on windows xp and installation seems to get complete sucessfully but when i try to check on http://localhost or http://127.0.0.1 i get the page cannot be displayed error on IE as well as Firefox.I thought this problem might be due to my IIS engaging the port 80 but even after i have completely removed IIS i still have the same problem.I also tried on Ubuntu 8.01 on vmware i get a sucessfull installation but i have the same page not found error on my browser.I have no firewalls installedand tried even with disabling my antivirus. This is really frustating, Can somebody please help?

In your XAMPP Control Panel (XCP) is Apache and MySQL showing a green running indication?

Click on the port check button in the XCP and see if IIS has indeed been disabled or if using Skype is it using the ports?

Any indication of issues in the Apache error log - xampp\apache\logs\error.log ?
