XAMPP DBX importation and URL setting

Postby Aeneas » 25. October 2009 11:50

For the novice, following a successful installation in which Apache and MySQL are able to start,
what are the basic steps necessary to:
1) import a large preexisting Outlook Express .dbx file or numerous preexisting Windows Live Mail .nws files representing perhaps 900 MBytes of Usenet messages into a MySQL (or SQLite etc) database, and
2) set the URL name for the web site which Apache presents to DNS ?

I have heard that another tool, phpBB, can perform the rest of the presentation.
I actually have little interest in accepting new messages; just displaying the old ones.
