Apache Virtual Hosts

Postby johnrld » 06. October 2009 20:16

I am trying to publish 2 websites (call them dmz and music). I have installed XAMPP on a local machine. How do I set it so that whenever someone goes to my IP address (without typing in the site address), the dmz site is the one they see, and if they type in the URL of either site, it will go to that site (and set it so that only the localhost can access the XAMPP page at http://localhost/xampp)? I set the default directory to the htdocs/dmz folder, but I cannot access the XAMPP page, and when I type the URL of the music site (located at the htdocs/music folder), I get a

"Access forbidden! You don't have permission to access the requested directory. There is either no index document or the directory is read-protected" error. "

I figure this has something to do with Apache not allowing browsing above the default directory (htdocs/dmz), but I cannot figure out how to get it the way I want it. I have configured the music site in the httpd-vhosts.conf file. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here is the contents of the htdocs folder
dmz (default folder)
music (folder)
the forbidden and restricted folders (do I have to put copies of these in each site?)
xampp (folder
the xampp index.html and php files
