xampp with another MySQL server [solved]

hi everyone!

I'm trying to use a xampp installation with a previous installation of MySQL.

I supose that I should change some values or paths in order to refer to older installation of MySQL instead of using the default xampp's MySQL.


Im using xampp 1.7.2 for Windows in my XP. In the file C:\xampp\apache\conf\extra\httpd-xampp.conf I changed the value of the string 'SetEnv MYSQL_HOME "C:\\xampp\\mysql\\bin" ' for 'SetEnv MYSQL_HOME "C:\\Archiv~1\\MySQL\\MySQL Server 5.0l\\"' which is the path to my other MySQL installation

I don't know if that's all what I have to do or if I misssing something.

That's what I had on my machine, MySQL 5.0.67 already there.

Basically when I installed XAMPP 1.7.0, I just didn't bother with the MYSQL part and left
it alone.

Once I configured PHP, that was it. I've been using it ever since.

you're right

the only problem I had was that I had my old MySQL running on port 3307 and xampp's MySQL on 3306 so I just switched them and everything works on!
