Can't load Perl file: C:/xampp/apache/conf/extra/startup.pl

Postby Tremal Naik » 27. August 2009 11:33

Hi!

I've read another threads about this problem, but I've can't resolve my problem with the solutions proposed it.

I've installed XAMPP 1.7.2 on a Windos XP Professional. I tried twice ways for installation: the EXE and the ZIP, but always I obtain the same lines at the error.log from Apache:

Code: Select all
[Thu Aug 27 10:24:59 2009] [error] Attempt to reload DynaLoader.pm aborted.\nCompilation failed in require at C:/xampp/perl/site/lib/ModPerl/Const.pm line 18.\nBEGIN failed--compilation aborted at C:/xampp/perl/site/lib/ModPerl/Const.pm line 18.\nCompilation failed in require at C:/xampp/perl/site/lib/Apache2/Const.pm line 18.\nBEGIN failed--compilation aborted at C:/xampp/perl/site/lib/Apache2/Const.pm line 18.\nCompilation failed in require at C:/xampp/apache/conf/extra/startup.pl line 9.\nBEGIN failed--compilation aborted at C:/xampp/apache/conf/extra/startup.pl line 9.\nCompilation failed in require at (eval 2) line 1.\n
[Thu Aug 27 10:24:59 2009] [error] Can't load Perl file: C:/xampp/apache/conf/extra/startup.pl for server localhost:80, exiting...

The error is repeated several times at the same file.

I have installed the oracle 10.2, but I0ve revised the ENVIROMENT VARIABLES, the scripts startup.pl and the httpd.conf and perl.conf.

I put here the code.

httpd.conf
Code: Select all
#
# This is the main Apache HTTP server configuration file.  It contains the
# configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
# See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2> for detailed information.
# In particular, see
# <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/directives.html>
# for a discussion of each configuration directive.
#
# Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
# what they do.  They're here only as hints or reminders.  If you are unsure
# consult the online docs. You have been warned.
#
# Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
# of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
# server will use that explicit path.  If the filenames do *not* begin
# with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/foo.log"
# with ServerRoot set to "C:/xampp/apache" will be interpreted by the
# server as "C:/xampp/apache/logs/foo.log".
#
# NOTE: Where filenames are specified, you must use forward slashes
# instead of backslashes (e.g., "c:/apache" instead of "c:\apache").
# If a drive letter is omitted, the drive on which httpd.exe is located
# will be used by default.  It is recommended that you always supply
# an explicit drive letter in absolute paths to avoid confusion.

#
# ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
# configuration, error, and log files are kept.
#
# Do not add a slash at the end of the directory path.  If you point
# ServerRoot at a non-local disk, be sure to point the LockFile directive
# at a local disk.  If you wish to share the same ServerRoot for multiple
# httpd daemons, you will need to change at least LockFile and PidFile.
#
ServerRoot "C:/xampp/apache"

#
# Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
# ports, instead of the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
# directive.
#
# Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to
# prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP addresses.
#
#Listen 0.0.0.0:80
#Listen [::]:80
Listen 80

Hi Nobbie,

Thanks for your answer, but I believe I don't understand the sentence

Editing apache_start.bat to unset PERL5LIB which was defined supprisingly enough by Oracle 10. I then had to use that batch file to start/stop apache.

If my apache_start.bat is like this one:

Code: Select all
@ECHO OFF & SETLOCAL
PUSHD %~dp0

ECHO Now we start Apache
xampp_cli.exe start apache

POPD
PAUSE

What must I modify? The PERL5LIB system variable is exactly the same that says the post. Thanks!

Obviously Oracle did not change your apache_startup.bat (as mentioned in the link), but instead it inserts the environment variable PERL5LIB into your Windows Environment.

The problem is, that this setting collides with the Xampp Perl Addon, because Oracle comes with it's own Perl (or Perl-Libraries). Try to delete the PER5LIB Variable from the Environment (you should backup the value before!), or simply rename it to something else, then reboot your PC and start Xampp again.

Code: Select all
LoadFile "C:/xampp/perl/bin/perl510.dll"
LoadModule perl_module modules/mod_perl.so
PerlPostConfigRequire "C:/xampp/apache/conf/extra/startup.pl"

You can change this to:
Code: Select all
LoadFile "C:/xampp/perl/bin/perl510.dll"
LoadModule perl_module modules/mod_perl.so
PerlSwitches -T
PerlPostConfigRequire "C:/xampp/apache/conf/extra/startup.pl"

Wiedmann,

Thanks for your suggestion. This actually has my apache running. Out of curiosity what does PerlSwitches -T do??

This starts perl.exe with the -T switch which enables tainting checks.

To find all the perl switches and their explanations for each in XAMPP 1.7.2, open your XAMPP Control Panel and click on the button Shell.

Then type perl -help

For older XAMPP versions with the plugin installed open a command prompt in the C:\xampp\perl\bin folder and type the above command.

I had same problem....
But I able to solve it by
Commenting below line in the file

#[/b]PerlPostConfigRequire "C:/xampp/apache/conf/extra/startup.pl"

It is true that httpd complicated with oracle db. I had deinstall the oracle database, and httpd works fine. :D

Take look my error.log below.
