Test dynamic content locally for more than one site

Postby bytemarks » 21. August 2009 04:35

I have installed XAMMP to use as local test servers. I have 3 database driven sites I would like to test locally and then FTP to my live domain.

I am a newbie and I am using Dreamweaver to create the dynamic content. I have noticed that if I want to use the Dreamweaver generated pages, (that will also function after they have been put to the live web host) I must store the files in 'htdocs' folder. In that way the dynamic pages can access the database records.

Here is the question; If I want to create and test dynamic content locally for more than one site, must I copy the files to the 'htdocs' folder each and every time I want to work on the site. Then to work on the next site, remove the first site and replace the files with the next site's files?

OR!? do you have a tip or trick to share with me to make this process a little easier?

Thanks-in-advance for any help you can offer.

Search for "VirtualHost".
