SSI seem not working on xampp 1.7.1 for linux

I just installed xampp 1.7.1 in my ubuntu 9.04. I check xampp status , it show SSI activated. i'm copying my web (template folder) into htdocs folder when i open web browser and pointing to http://localhost/template/ , it shows directory listing. file index.shtml not automatically loaded and include file not called. I have already try it on xampp on windows , it run smoothly. (sorry for may bad english)

Is "index.shtml" listet in the DirectoryIndex directive?

Thanks for reply, you right now it's working when i point browser to http://localhost/template/ it load index.shtml but SSI still seem not working. All include file not loaded. thanks a lot for your help
