can't access localhost

Hi, I am a real beginner and I have problems starting. After installing, I try to access localhost (I also tried with 127.0.0.1), but the browser tells me that "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost" even though "the site seems valid". Please tell me what shall I do?

Did you open the XAMPP Control Panel and start Apache and MySQL?
C:\xampp\xampp-control.exe

Did you read the readme_en.txt file, the XAMPP for Windows Home Page and the FAQ?

I told you i'm a beginner. I didn't even select them at installation! Now it's working. Thanks for bearing with me.
