Xapp installer for windows vista downloading problems.

Postby swtslasylm » 18. May 2009 06:52

To whom it may concerns,

I have been experiencing some problems downloading the Xapp installer from Apache friends provided Xapp installer download link http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php -as for OS automatic completion of download with not full file size downloaded, (less size.) Having tried from other mirrors I had found the same difficulty; and right now, I am still trying. I also downloaded the self extract file and found that the xapp set up .bat file was not present in the extracted folder.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

R.

You will have to keep trying as IMHO your browser is having some effect on your downloads and from experience this is sometimes/often the case.

Use a download manager like FlashGet (link), I recommend it, which will persist until it downloads a complete file and will also allow you to resume a paused download - but there are others and a Google should find all of them.

The XAMPP file repository on SourceForge is located here and this may help you get a full file downloaded:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... e_id=89552

My preferred XAMPP download version is the EXE (7zip) self extracting file for all versions of Windows.

Good luck with it.

I would use cURL for Windows: http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/cU ... 66899018/1

or

a wget for Windows if there is one.

These are command lines programs that are easy to use and will re-try if an error happens. I use curl all the time on my Mac.

curl http://www.apachefriends.org/download.p ... -1.7.1.exe -o MyXAMMP.exe

(that is a dash oh not zero) The dash oh tells it what name to save it to. You could use the same name if you wanted.

This is probably more than you wanted to know!

PS: I already got the installer file in my computer from a friend server's direct download, and it works fine. Got other issues about starting apache, it starts but then does not show as running... but this is another topic I may attend. Thanks again for your care & concern. Regards. R.

I am having the same problem. I tried a download manager and it didn't work either. I am running vista, but also tried it on another computer with xp. Any other ideas. I have had xampp before.

Hi,

I have a friend that downloaded the file and sent the XAMPP installer download to me through a link from his own server; however this, I never make my way to successfully build a site through the application that the XAMPP was intended to -that is Joomla! (due to the last one complex and unfriendly environment...)

So I reccomend that you check a place for a free web site with private -own- domain like "www.yoursite.com" ...and really much more; you can find the place through: http://www.officelive.com/en-us/

I have been using Microsoft Office Live services for many years and I'll keep on doing! They have excellence as its less goal and they grow over this perfection!!! Simply the best!!!!! Ok?

On whichever the case could be that you still need to download XAMPP, what we can do is share the following information:

- :: >>> The link from my friend: http://servace.biz/ez2x2/rodney/xampp-w ... taller.exe

Take care of what you invest through XAMPP; first of all time consume, as it's our best resource! Humble said this, I thank you for contacting me through here.

Best regards,
