Does XAMPP require removal of MAMP

Postby caltuna » 05. May 2009 17:19

I run MAMP. No problem with it but it looks like it is no longer supported. I want to try XAMPP.

In another thread someone hinted that you must remove MAMP before you can get XAMPP to work? True? If so, it makes no sense. Since both are self-contained and make no system changes (TTBOMK) why would having MAMP on the hard drive (but not currently running of course) cause a problem with XAMPP?

Thanks.

Hi,

No you don't need to remove MAMP to get XAMPP to work.

OK, so I could run one OR the other without issue, right? Of course they could not share a mysql database, but that's OK. I just want to keep MAMP around until I'm sure XAMPP will run all my stuff as well as my backup version of SugarCRM which run on a hosted server. I keep an updated backup so that if the internet connection goes down... I'm still in business and have most of the latest stuff (I run the backup 3 times a day.)
