Mysql starts then immediatly stops...

when I start Xampp, Mysql will start, and then stop. Everything else works fine. I am on the latest release of Xampp and Ubuntu 8.10.

I've got the same problem, the same XAMPP version and the same Ubuntu version... And I've got no clue how it can be fixed...

I have this same problem and im tryin to learn mysql so could sum plz post a reply plzzzzzzzzzzz im running it on a 64 bit version of ubuntu 8.10 i cant understand y it does this

Be sure Ubuntu does not already start MySQL during start up. You cannot have MySQL running twice at the same time.

Go to system / administration / system monitor and click the tab named processes. Look for mysqld (probably with the status sleeping).
