terminal will not accept tar xfvz xampp-macosx-0.7.4.tar.gz

Hi. I am trying to install Xampp for mac. I cannot get past this code in the terminal. What do i do?

terminal says:

localhost:/Users/Carolyn root# tar xfvz xampp-macosx-0.7.4.tar.gz -C /
tar (child): xampp-macosx-0.7.4.tar.gz: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar (child): Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
localhost:/Users/Carolyn root#


So it wouldnt allow me to finish the install steps for the terminal. i went to the xampp control panel and hit start. output says the programs are all started. i went to localhost and its xampp. i guess it worked? or are those omissions going to cause problems in the future.

You don't need this steps in the terminal. It (should) work fine without.

I've updated the docu so that it no longer talks about these terminal commands
