cannot open localhost

i've installed XAMPP 1.7.0 on my laptop and i've enable both mySql and Apache ... apache seems working when i hit 'Start' button on XAMPP control panel .. and shows 'Running'

but, why i cannot open localhost on my browser ? it just "waiting for localhost ..."

somebody help please .

First try typing http://localhost/ and see what happens. Also try http://127.0.0.1/ and tell us what happens then.

Make sure that the button beside Apache says "Running" and doesn't switch back to "Start" after a second or so.

Hi!

I am very new to apache and php. i have been facing the same problems and have also tried your suggestation. plus i have also "ping localhost", the results are packets sent = 4, recieved = 4, lost = 0, getting reply from 127.0.0.1.

But after all that it still doesn't work.

Can you be specific about what doesn't work in your case please.

Make sure your firewall is not blocking or an ant-virus scanner - temporarily disable and try again.

You could also try adding Win32DisableAcceptEx to the last line of your xampp\apache\conf\httpd.conf using a text editor.

Save the file and restart Apache then try again to load a page.
