Apache on Port 8080 butXAMPP control panel shows [Port 80]

Postby brian.hadfield » 17. February 2009 00:49

Hello All,

I am new to this forum and to XAMPP but have been scouring the posts here for a lot of great information. I have searched the posts in this forum a few different ways but have been unable to come up with a solution to my issue, any help is appreciated.

I have installed XAMPP for Windows 1.7 on Windows Vista and everything seems to be running properly. I have moved apache to port 8080 based on the guidance from numerous posters here, and it seems to be working great.

For some reason, however, when I launch the XAMPP control panel and start Apache, I get the following message:

Apache started [Port 80]

If I browse to http://127.0.0.1 I get nothing and if I browse to http://127.0.0.1:8080 I get the XAMPP page so Apache is definitely running on port 8080.. just curious as to why the control panel shows it on port 80 and if that may cause problems down the road.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Regards,

Brian

The XAMPP Control Panel is hard coded to port 80 and so can be ignored.
