Removing PHP4?

Postby Boogerhead » 30. January 2009 05:20

Kind folks,

It seems rather unlikely I'll ever need PHP4, and I'd rather not have a security risk. Can I just delete the folder, or is there something more subtle I need to do to get rid of it?

Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, my bad. 1.7.0, Windows, Vista. Only PHP app I regularly run is Gallery2.

There is no php4 in 1.7.0 so nothing to remove.

It is no longer supported by PHP so was not included in this 1.7.0 or any later versions of XAMPP.

There may still be some references to php 4 on some of the pages in XAMPP but they can be ignored and most likely, when spotted by the developers, will be removed.

I didn't do a clean install of 1.7.0, so I've got php4 left over from an earlier version. Can I just delete the folder?

Yes, delete it as it is not in the 1.7.0 release and so is obsolete and will never be called.
