error msg when installing xampp 1.7.0

Postby ravnone1 » 23. January 2009 14:32

Hello,
I just installed version 1.7.0 of xampp, and at the end I received this message:
"port 80 or 443 (SSL) already in use! Installing Apache 2.2 service failed!"
How do I correct this error?
Thanks,
ravnone1

Double click on xampp-portcheck.exe in the xampp folder and see what is using those ports.

Then disable what ever it is, usually IIS and Skype.

This SYSTEM has cropped up before and if Internet Information Services (IIS) is disabled in Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs>Add/Remove Windows Components and no Skype and no services installed by XAMPP then after a reboot this SYSTEM was removed and free replaced on port 80 - give a reboot a go and see if they are all now free.

To remove any Apache service installed double click on xampp\apache\apache_uninstallervice.bat file then reboot and see if the SYSTEM entry on port 80 is cleared.
