I take it you installed XAMPP 1.7.0 because you did not mention that or indeed what OS you are using.
Before following the procedure below go to
xampp\mysql\bin folder and double click on
mysql_upgrade.exe and when it has finished check your forum again.
If the problem is still there then follow the procedure below but it won't do any harm to do it anyway after doing the above database upgrade.
Open phpMyAdmin
http://localhost/phpmyadmin login as root so you are at the home page with the databases listed in the left frame.
Click on your database name so you see in the right frame all your tables.
Down at the bottom of the list of tables you should see
Check All / Uncheck All Click on
Check All and it will put a tick in all the boxes next to each table.
Now find next to the
Check all/Uncheck All a drop menu
With selected: showing.
Click on the drop menu and select
Repair Table.
You should see at the top of the window after the tables have been repaired a message in green:
Your SQL query has been executed successfullyAll the repaired table should have a
repair status OK next to them when complete.
Job done.
Check your forum again and if all is OK close phpMyAdmin.
