Vista & XAMPP 1.7.0 - MySQL problem [RESOLVED]

I turned off Vista User Account Control after deinstallation of XAMPP.
Then I could remove the Mysql service with the "sc delete mysql" command.
Installed XAMPP again. It worked.
Then turned UAC on again.
XAMMP keeps on working well, WITH mysql

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium and have installed XAMPP 1.7.0 in F:\XAMPP.

When I open the XAMPP control panel, the box for the MySQL service is already checked. It can not be switched off.

When I have a look at the status of the system I get a window with red bars for features that are deactivated and green bars for features that are activated. It tells me that the MySQL database is activated.

I tried to run mysql_uninstallservice.bat but this did not work.

When I uninstall XAMPP, delete the F:\XAMPP folder and freshly install XAMPP, the problem remains.

What can I do?

I have the exact same issue. I have done the exact same things. I am clueless. Anyone have any solution to our problem?

I have stopped the XAMPP Console.

When I look in the Windows services list, I still see a MySQL entry.

I started a Cmd window and issued the command: "sc delete mysql"

Then I receive the following output:

[SC] OpneService FAILED 5:

Access is denied

The solution:

I turned off Vista User Account Control after deinstallation of XAMPP.
Then I could remove the Mysql service with the "sc delete mysql" command.
Installed XAMPP again. It worked.
Then turned UAC on again.
XAMMP keeps on working well, WITH mysql.

It seems that deinstallation of the services is blocked by UAC.

I have been struggling with this for several days trying all sorts of solutions, I had not even thought about the darn UAC.

Everything works!

I am now truly an Apache Friend....

I am sure I'll be back with more questions
