Apache does noet start after fresh XAMPP install [SOLVED]

Postby Goofy2k » 10. January 2009 18:42

[Solved: the problem described here was solved after I closed Skype, that was running in the background. I found this clue after reading the Post by Beaslin in the German forum]

I freshly installed XAMPP with the installer package. When I want to start Apache from the XAMPP Control Panel by pressing the Start button, the text "Running" does not appear. When I enter http://localhost in my browser, I get a blank page.

I tried to start Appache with the apache_start.bat command in the xampp directory. Then I get the following output:
--------------------------------------------------
F:\xampp>apache_start
Diese Eingabeforderung nicht waehrend des Running beenden
Bitte erst bei einem gewollten Shutdown schliessen
Please close this command only for Shutdown
Apache 2 is starting ...
<OS 10048>Only one usage of each socket addresss (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted. :
make-sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80
no listening sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs

Apache konnte nicht gestartet werden
Apache could not be started

------------------------------------------------------

I use Windows Vista Home Premium
I have been running XAMPP before, but recently I did a fresh install of my Vista operating system (complete re-format)

I don't have a clue where I should begin to solve this problem.
