HELP PLEASE XAMPP not working after WINSP3

I have been working on a web site for charity localhost using XAMPP. I believe after an automatic upgrade to WINSP3 I am now unable to get my apache or mysql service running. Error APACHE Service not start [-1]. Tried what was suggested on another help site which was to disable the Windows firewall and restart XAMPP - this still does not work. Is there anyone who can help me - I would really like to get XAMPP working with the firewall enabled and retain SP3 if possible... HELP PLEASE!!!

Start the Apache with the batch file in the xampp folder xampp\apache_start.bat
It will tell you what's the problem.

Thanks for the reply. Have had to reinstall XAMPP to get it to work. Luckily it is though... Phew!!! Thanks again.
