Xampp with Care2x -- The page cannot be displayed

Postby mriyaz » 04. January 2009 19:03

Hi everybody,

I am stuck up with the following problem:

I am using xampp 1.6.4 with Care2x (an Healthcare Integrated Information System). Since Care2x does not work with php5, I used the php-switch.bat to change from php5 to php4.

I unzipped the Care2x file in the D:\xampp\htdocs\care2x directory. Using http://localhost, I configured the Care2x system smoothly.

But, when I browse http://localhost/care2x , It gives the message "The page cannot be displayed" .

The following is the entry from D:\xampp\apache\logs\error.log
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will appreciate if some xampp geek helps me out in this.

I don't know anything about your script but doing some minor research has prompted me to post as no one else seems to have spotted this topic that has had experience with your script.
File 'c:\mysql\share\charsets\?.conf' not found (Errcode: 2)
Character set '#48' is not a compiled character set and is not specified in the 'c:\mysql\share\charsets\Index' file
File 'c:\mysql\share\charsets\?.conf' not found (Errcode: 2)
Character set '#48' is not a compiled character set and is not specified in the 'c:\mysql\share\charsets\Index' file
From these error messages I believe that you may have a MySQL database language or character set configuration issue with your script and perhaps you will find the solution on the script's web site.

I had a quick look through the documentation wiki and came across some interesting manual installation and configuration methods.

So perhaps if you used an automatic installation then take a look through the Wiki it may help with the language character encoding issue which perhaps is best done manually - look for any links relating to script/installation administration not user related topics.
http://care2x.org/manuals/en_install_manual_2_1_mysql.htm

Here is a link to a MySQL reference and the readers comments may be of interest.
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/problems-with-character-sets.html

Good luck and if you find that it ends up being an issue with configuring XAMPP then the forum will be only too keen to help.

Thanks for your reply sherley,

After trying all possible ideas in the links you gave, I reinstalled all the components.
Again, when I browse http://localhost/care2x , It gives the message "The page cannot be displayed" .

The following is the entry from D:\xampp\apache\logs\error.log

Just a shot but

PHP Warning: Unknown(): Unable to load dynamic library 'C:\\xampp\\php\\extensions\\php_sqlite.dll' - The specified module could not be found.\r\n in Unknown on line 0

Why is there 2 //'s ? like C://xampp//<-?php//<-? Shouldn't it just be 1 / or 1 \ ? If not that then maybe check that the sqlite.dll is in the ext folder insode your php folder.

Hope that helps you a bit.

Riyaz, it's Sharley. ;)

The reinstall of your script has at least removed the MySQL error at this stage from the error.log file but after fixing these other issues we must be prepared for them or others to appear again because, as yet, your script has not been able to start.

BTW when you switched from php5 to php4 were there any issues or did you get the "OKAY ... PHP SWITCHING WAS SUCCESSFUL" message when the switch had been written and was complete?

Make sure Apache is stopped before running the switch bat file.

Also if you feel the switch went wrong for any reason simply run the php-switch.bat file again and select 5 to use php5 - close the console window. Then run the switch bat file again and select 4 to use php4 and see that you get the success message above then close the console window by pressing any key.

Now start Apache again and try your script.

To check that all is well again try this:
Go to http://localhost/xampp/phpinfo.php in your browser.

Look for this line which will tell you what php.ini file is being used:
Loaded Configuration File
(it should have been copied form the php4 folder to the C:\xampp\apache\bin folder when performing the switch form 5 to 4).

Next open that php.ini file in your text editor and find this line - on my XAMPP php4 installation it looks like this:
; Directory in which the loadable extensions (modules) reside.
extension_dir = "C:\xampp\php\extensions\"

(as you can see it should be in the above location not the ext folder).
If your line looks different, apart from the path then change it so it resembles the above line.

Next look for this line in the php.ini file and make sure it is uncommented (it usually is by default) and looks similar to this:
extension=php_sqlite.dll

Now save the file after editing and restart Apache - make a backup of the ini file before editing.

Use xampp\apache_start.bat file to see if there are any error messages displayed and if not then close the console window and start Apache as you would normally and check the error.log file again to make sure that all is as it should be - those messages that are defined as [notice} are usually quite normal but [warning] and [error] are not and need to be investigated further.

Good luck.

Has anyone been able to resolve this. I am getting the exact same issue. Only the ext directory has the required php_sqlite.dll and that obviously is not the right version for use with php 4. There is no such file in extensions directory. I will be grateful for any help related to this.

What OS and which version of XAMPP are you using?

Comment - another reason to always post back when offered a solution to tell the forum if the solution was effective or not - it really does help other readers as is evident in this topic.

I'm running Xamp 1.6.8 on Windows XP. PHP 4.4.9.

I know that the sqlite libary that comes packaged as part of php 5 is not compatible with version 4.4.9. I beleive the library that im looking for php_sqlite 2.8.17. Has anyone been able to resolve this issue? If anyone has successfully installed and run care2x please let me know. I need all the help i can get at this point.

Just one more question, did you use the php-switch.bat file and if so were there any issues reported when switching from php5 to php4?

I have 1.6.8 and the php_sqlite.dll dated 17/08/2006 is in the extensions folder - obviously residue from a previous XAMPP version because all I have done is upgrade that folder never a fresh install and I notice in the zip archive of 1.6.8 that dll is not in the extensions folder.

The php_sqlite.dll in the ext folder is dated 03/05/08 - non US dates.

Php4 is no more and so finding the dll (just tried) may be an issue.

I will upload the 17/08/2006 dll to rapidshare.com for you to try out.
Link to the zip file click here

Unzip the archive into your extensions folder and make sure that it is uncommented in the php.ini file and see how that goes - best I can do for now and note that it can only be downloaded 10 times before it is deleted so those reading this please do not download this file until wasiftoor has confirmed he has download it - thanks.

Let me know back if rapidshare is not for you and I will make an alternate download location available.

Also let us know if it fixed your issue please.
Thanks.

Izzy,

I beleive your file worked. Atleast im not getting the library error anymore, but i am still have the "page not displayed" problem. I wonder what i am doing wrong. Are the apache logs the only place that would log errors for php errors, e.g. errors related to dependencies?

Have you ever tried to run Care2x? Maybe this is Care2x specific. I am also going to try installing PHP,MySQL, Apache separately and attempt the installation. Wish me luck.

Thanks and Regards,

Wasif.

Sorry I know zero about that script - is there no help on their website?

There is an Error handling and logging section in your php.ini file that you might want to look at which will be effective server wide.

This post has a code snippet to add to the top of your php script on the page that won't display:
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=32669&p=132057

Experiment with the register global and safe mode settings as you are in php4 and this is a script that needs this deprecated version.
