Help removing XMAPP

Postby nelslynn » 12. December 2008 22:16

I could never get XAMPP to install correctly so I've moved on to MAMP. MAMP installed without a hitch. However, when ever I browse to localhost I get an XAMPP login message:

A username and password are being requested by http://localhost. The site says: "xampp user" I enter the xampp login info I had used when xampp was installed, and nothing... it just keeps popping back up.

Can someone please help me in trying to remove this popup. I uninstalled XAMPP using the uninstall program, and removed all traces of it...
Thanks,
nelslynn

You might try this in the terminal:

rm -rf /Applications/xampp

if it generates an error you might have to reinstall xampp then run it in the terminal.

You might also go into library/receipts and get rid of the Xampp package.

Solution was to remove the .htaccess file XAMPP places in the htdocs folder.

I thought you said you removed xampp completely? Oh, my bad - you saved your xampp web folder; never mind.
